Olympic Medalist Mark Gorski Named Business Development Officer
For BRDG-Park at the Danforth Plant Science Center

April 2, 2009, St. Louis, MO – Mark Gorski, a 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist and international marketing professional, has been named Business Development Officer for Bio-Research and Development Growth (BRDG) Park at the Danforth Plant Science Center. BRDG Park will open in June 2009 the first of three buildings for plant and life sciences companies, from incubation stage companies to post-incubation companies that have advanced their science, demonstrated proof of concept, raised additional monies and are poised for growth.

In addition to attracting emerging companies in plant and life sciences from across the nation to move to BRDG Park, Gorski will identify established companies around the world that are interested in having a business presence

in the United States. Through the “soft landing” program available at BRDG Park, foreign companies will be able to “ease into” the U.S. business market through access to numerous advisory and support services in addition to BRDG Park’s state-of-the-art wet lab and office space.

“Mark’s experiences in the international marketplace and as a successful entrepreneur are a tremendous advantage for BRDG Park. His career trajectory attests to his abilities in growing businesses into thriving enterprises, building successful partnerships, and negotiating multi-million dollar sponsorships,” said Sam Fiorello, President of BRDG Park and Chief Operating Offer of the Danforth Plant Science Center.

Gorski will also continue to serve part-time as St. Louis Campaign Manager for the Sister to Sister Foundation, a national women’s heart health organization, where he has been National Director of Development since 2008 and St. Louis Campaign manager since 2005.

Gorski’s experience includes being the co-founder and CEO of Tailwind Sports, Inc., a professional cycling team led by Lance Armstrong, which required negotiating and managing more than $60 million in international sponsorship contracts with major corporations after becoming the first American team ever to win the Tour de France. Earlier in his career he served as Director of Corporate Development for USA Cycling and as Vice President, Trust and Investment Division for Wells Fargo Bank.

As a cyclist, in addition to winning a Gold Medal in the men’s individual sprint at the 1984 Olympics, Gorski is a five time national champion and member of the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame. Gorski is a native of Chicago, Ill. and attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Located in suburban St. Louis County, widely regarded as a global leader in plant and life science research and industry, BRDG Park ultimately will include approximately 400,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art wet labs and office space for developing scientific enterprises. For companies in plant and life sciences BRDG Park offers many strategic advantages, from unparalleled access to the research, resources and relationships of the Danforth Plant Science Center to its proximity to Monsanto’s world headquarters located across the street.

BRDG Park is being developed by Wexford Science+Technology LLC, a privately held real estate developer and investment company that has developed six major research parks nationwide.
